Cowl Neck Top

Yesterday I decided to make something for the summer as a way of getting out of the winter doldrums.  This winter seems endless as does the snow.
So, I decided to make McCalls pattern 6963. Because I was using fabric leftover from a dress I made 2 years ago, I made the short sleeved version.  The fabric was a very stretchy knit as called for in the directions.  In effect, I really was making a muslin to test fit, etc.
The pattern went together pretty easily.  I serged most of it.  Overall, I like the top but I will go down one size on the neckline for the next one I make.  And I will make another cowl neck top!!

New at Arlene's Bags is the Amanda iPhone 6 Case. The Amanda iPhone 6 Case can be made in 4 different ways, with an open top, with a flap closure, with a flap closure & outside storage pocket, or with a flap closure, an outside storage pocket & a wrist strap.
Shown in the photo is an order for 2 cases made with a flap closure & an outside storage pocket. I used my earbuds & LG cell phone which is a bit shorter than the iPhone 6 for the photo.

A New Lisa Foldable iPad Cover

This past weekend I made a new Lisa Foldable iPad Cover & used the Hanna prequilted fabric I used to make the new D'Ann 2 Zip Hipster. Am not much into being 'matchy' but, because I just love the new Hannah prequilted fabric, I decided to use the Hannah for my iPad cover.

The photos show the iPad cover both closed & open at the typing angle. As described in earlier posts about the Lisa iPad cover, the cover has 2 viewing angles. One angle is for typing & the other is for reading or web browsing. It is amazing what a difference a few degrees can make!

D'Ann Hipster

This afternoon I finished making my newest bag, the DAnn 2 Zip Hipster Bag. I absolutely love this new style! To make the DAnn Hipster I used the Hannah prequilted fabric, one of my newest fabrics which is available in my etsy store, https://www.etsy.com/shop/Bassetmommy.
The DAnn Hipster has a recessed top zipper closure, 1 exterior zipped pocket (think passport!) backed by a slip-in pocket, 2 interior slip-in pockets & an adjustable shoulder strap which makes it ideal for wearing the bag crossbody. The Leslie Backpack

I recently completed an order for a Leslie backpack.

My customer ordered the backpack for her niece who is starting college in the fall.
The backpack style, especially because of its comfortably wide adjustable straps, is a popular one among college students as the bag is also quite large and holds loads of 'stuff'.

My customer chose the elegant & practical black Orleans prequilted fabric & its coordinates for her niece's bag.

The outside front of the bag has a zippered pouch pocket which can be used any numbers of good-sized items.

The inside is accessed via a top zipper which extends from one center side to the other.
Inside there are slip-in pockets on both sides as well as a side pocket which could hold a water bottle.

There is also a carrying handle at the center top of the zipper.
